How to Transform Your Fear Into Power
Hi beloved readers. Do you Fear? Everybody does. There is only one type of person that have no fear at all, and it is the dead. Agree?
I am sure you have come across this before: The acronym of FEAR
Fear is false
Evidence
Appearing
Real
But is Fear False? No, I think it is so real that it has caused a lot of upheaval in a nation and in a person’s life.
I came across this story that has a great impact on me about facing fear. The story goes like this:
(Don’t try this at home
this is just an analogy.
Once there was a wise man who went to visit a temple with a few of his students.
When they were some distance from the temple, they saw a very ferocious dog being tied near the gate of the temple.
On seeing the ferocious, teeth gritting dog, charging towards their directions, the students were afraid to pass the gate. The dog was tied with a rope that seemed weak to withstand the strength of the charging dog.
The wise man was calmed but not his students. The charging dog finally broke loose and ran charging towards their direction. The students were all so frightened that they just froze. They asked their teacher should they run or pick up some things to throw at the coming dog. Without a word, the teacher suddenly gave a loud scream and ran with much speed towards the ferocious dog. The dog suddenly just came to a screeching halt and just stood there totally confused.
The teacher continued to scream and charging with his both hands raised towards the now wimpy dog.
As the teacher ran closer and closer to the dog, suddenly the dog made a 180 degree turn and ran away with his tails behind his legs. Now, the scene became, the teacher chasing after the once ferocious dog instead of the other way round.
Wow, the students were jumping with joy and screaming victory, victory teacher !!!
When everything was over, the students asked the teacher what gave him the courage to do that?
The teacher answered, “Face the FEAR and Never run away from FEAR!”
I love this story and I agree totally with this wise man teacher. But it is easier said than done.
Facing our Fear is good, but I would like to know the how to ?
Fear is a human emotion, it is not like the ferocious dog, a tangible being you can see.
It is a deep seated emotion that can cause havoc in a person’s life if not dealt with.
In the “Transform Your Fear Into Power” Audio, Dr. Lorraine Cohen addressed the Issues with valid questions to ask ourselves. She also provides the answers to these questions like :
1. Where does fear come from anyway?
2. What makes people afraid of confronting their fears? (Why fear has so much power)
3. What are some tell-tale signs that one is reacting in fear?
4. What are some steps for people to take/do, to understand what they are afraid of ?
5. What are some of the key fears people struggle with to overcome?
Just to list a few, but there are more such thought provoking questions in the Transform Fear Into Power Audio program.
Don’t allow fear to control you, the more you fear the more it will come.
Like attracts Like, so is Fear Attracts Fear.
We must learn how to use FEAR as a stepping stone. Fear will come, as long as we are still on earth. Learn how to transform FEAR rather than just trying to get rid of it.

Hi,
I have ever heard the illustration from Robin Sharma’s podcast.
Yes, it’s opening my eyes as well. The dog scared off because they have never seen something like that, all the others running away from the dog, but they never see someone running towards them, hence they’re scared.
Similarly, let’s make our fear scared of us =)
Great post!
Robert
Hi Robert,
Thank you for visiting. Yes, I heard this story from someone but don’t remember
where I heard it. I like the story because it helps me take courage when
there is none, look fear in the eye and not be afraid.
thank you for your comment too.
Best
