Have you ever struggled so much that you just feel like giving up? I know I have. Have you? There was certain point in my life, I had a lot of success and I also had gone through the lowest point in my life. During those lowest point in my life, I had questioned myself, am I a failure? am I not good enough ? Many of these self doubts went through my mind, and I had no answer, no clue why I was going through what I went through… at that point.. life was meaningless to me.

What I didn’t know was, I was out of alignment, my thoughts, my spirit was totally out of alignment…. and I didn’t know that. Have you tried riding on a bicycle that suddenly had the metal chain out of alignment? Ya, when the chain is out, the bicycle will not be able to go smoothly anymore… it’s the same with our human spirit too. Once it is out of alignment, it will not go smoothly too.

I had the privilege to get to know this very wonderful and dear lady for about a year now, and she is non other then Dr. Lorraine Cohen. I spoke about her in my previous post before. I just love this lady because of who she is, a woman of integrity and honor. She is also someone I hold high regards for, a woman of wisdom and highly intuitive.

Today, she is my guest. I invited her to share with me and my readers about one of her programs, which is getting very popular. I will have her take over now, a treat for you.

Do You Desire Some Miracles?

Procrastination - Positive or Negatives, makes a great difference

This word Procrastination, is commonly used and commonly defined as bad.

Procrastination is not all bad sometimes. It really depends on whether is a Positive or Negative Procrastination.

Negative Procrastination – Will have immediate side effects
(You drag your feet to do something which you know you ought to do. The result of not doing that something will give you much headaches).

Example:

1. Paying your bills.

2. Showing up at events that you ought show up –like meeting your boss.

3. Taking necessary breaks after many long and exhaustive days of working

4. Exercising for better health

5. Taking your required medications

6. Communicating with your spouse, children after a long silent break.

Positive Procrastination – Will not have immediate side effects
(You can still afford time to ponder, in fact it is only wise you do that).

Example:

1. You have an offer to join venture with someone, but you don’t feel the green light inside you. You need to do more research.

2. You have been asked to join a company, network or groups, but you feel uneasy, indecisive and unclear about it.

3. You wanted to start a project but don’t seem to have the flow to do anything yet.

4. You are asked to sign a contract, but you need to know more first.

5. You wish to leave your job, go overseas but don’t know much about the new territory you are stepping into. You need more info.

6. Writing or publishing a book or magazine.

When you are feeling this way, it is good to step aside and quiet your mind and inner thoughts to assess it more with clarity. Spending sometime to think through and do more research may be the answer. Sometimes it may even be the case of just putting it aside completely.

Ask yourself these questions, when in doubt:

1. Are you disconnected from the Higher Power? Who is your God?

2. Do you really know what you want?

3. Do you feel passionate about it? Or at least feel good about it?

4. Are you confuse, without clarity, do you need more information?

5. Do you feel fearful about it? Is fear standing in your way, and what can you do about it?

6. Do you focus on the negative more than the positive?

7. Are you afraid with other peoples’ opinions?

8. Does it add value to me or others, me and others?

When you need to set aside the time to think through certain things, it’s also good to:

1. Set a time line or deadline.

2. Set the priority. Weigh the importance of doing or not doing certain project.

3. Set interruption boundaries.

4. Know the difference between important and urgent.

Based on Stephen Covey’s “The 7 habits of highly effective people”…

Urgent-Example:

- The phone rings, and you have to pick it up even though you have someone with you at the moment.
You will probably complete the urgent conversation and let the person in front of you wait, because the
ringing phone is pressing on you, and we normally react to urgent matters.

Important –Example:

Something that has to do with results, it contributes to your mission, your values, your high priority goals.
If we don’t have a clear idea of what is important, of the results we desire in our lives, we are easily diverted into responding to the urgent.

5. Knowing how to choose

“How well do you know yourself? Many people don’t know themselves at all. They might know things about themselves – their likes, dislikes, some behavior patterns, some strengths, talents, fears. They think they DO know themselves. In truth, they’re so busy attending to the day-to-day responsibilities that they miss getting to know who they are, intimately….”

“People who make decisions from the inside out bring their self-awareness, gut instincts and intuition into their experiences. They view situations by asking themselves,
“Who am I?” when trying to answer the question, “What do I do?” Shining the spotlight on your values, beliefs, purpose and vision will aid in creating a deeper understanding of who you are. Bringing yourself into the equation is like adding color to a black and white picture! Turning your attention inward leads to greater clarity and smarter choices.”

Psst…Admit it. FEAR can grip you. Feel your goose bumps rising? And your body shaking, your palms sweaty, and your heartbeats faster? Is this just imaginations or for real? Well, if you don’t know how to handle fear, it can be as real as it can be.

Fears or anxiety, according to Freud, is a basic emotion that influences everyone’s life from earliest childhood. This influence shapes your life, as you grow old. Usually, the things that you fear in your childhood are still the same things that you fear even when you get older. This only suggests that it is never easy to conquer fears especially if you don’t have a willing heart, a focused mind and people to help you.

Fears vary. Some of you may fear imagined objects; some fear real things and activities; and some have particular dreads (phobias). While there are some who are weird enough that they just suddenly lose out of control of their actions and reasons. You commonly know these startling out-of-the-blue-attacks of intense fear or terror as panic disorders.

Your fears, as mentioned by experts, are learned response but they can be unlearned.

Doctors may expose you to your respective fears that may take place in real life or in your imagination. While there are those who will encourage you to talk with others who have the same fears as you have.

Yet the best and the most effective therapy in treating fears are not those that doctors can offer. Even the most skillful doctor, cannot cure you from fear, because no one but YOURSELF can do it.

However if you can learn from someone who has overcame fear, tried and tested, you can certainly cut the hook of fear.

Change The Channel

Have you watched any horror movie before? If you don’t want to frighten yourself, what do you do? Yes, change the channel. That’s simple right?

But often we don’t change the channel, or maybe don’t know how to change the channel.

Freedom from your fears lies in your hands and in your hands alone.

Don’t Fear “Fear”

Watch a better channel

Don’t change the channel and go to another disgusting channel. It’s like jumping from one frying pan to another. Choose a channel that entertains and relaxes you. A channel that adds value to you.

Do a fast

Fast from watching any channel sometimes. Change to meditation. Whenever I have filled my mind with garbage, I will do a fast. It feels good to do a fast from watching, listening and talking about things that will cause fear and affect your mood.

Replenish with positive

After a good fast, replenish with the positive, feed your mind with positive. Removing without replenishing will cause a void. Not good. Your mind and heart is not meant to have any void. If it is left void too long, it will be filled with something, most often fear will creep in. So don’t allow that.

Hope this few tips will help you to change channel if you are coping with fear.
